Forever Family

We are officially and legally a forever family now! The hearing went really well and you could tell that the judge really liked this part of her job. The whole thing in front of the judge took about 5 minutes. She even gave Samuel a stuffed toy boat, which he loves. Our attorney gave us Samuel's original birth certificate and he sent off yesterday to Georgia to get his new birth certificate. We should have it in a month or two. We got out of the courthouse a lot sooner than we thought so we went out for brunch. All in all, it was a great day.

Here a a few shots from the day.

Waiting to go into the court room. A lady that was there for her finalization took these pictures for us.

Getting sworn in by the judge.

Congratz! I know it's a great feeling.
We didn't get a stuffed toy. But we weren't in the same court room either (I can tell from the pics).

Glad that it is all over. We got her new birth certificate just before the two month mark but it was from Texas. Hope you get it quickly.

Hey - to answer your comment on my blog post today (about the hardwood floors) - Baby O did bang his head on the hardwood a lot when he was rolling around, but he figured out pretty quickly that he needed to hold his head up when he rolled. So now, when he throws his "tantrums" - where he falls back and "bumps" his head on the floor? He's very aware of the fact that the floor is hard.

It really only took a couple of weeks before he was used to it. I hope that's the case with you, too!

But as an aside, I did notice that it was harder for him to crawl on the hardwood, too - took him a little longer to really crawl - on the hardwood he got around by army crawling. Was too slippery when he was still learning how to crawl.

Do you know how his original was filed? Isabel was with her bmom's last name. But I have a friend who was there at the birth and they put his name with their last name right on the birth certificate.

So if you know it for sure I would put it, if not I would just leave it blank and explain it while you're there. I can't imagine it would be a problem. You can file for an ATIN if you want.

Take his shot records. They asked me for that.

Good luck!!
